Learned Friend

Learned Friend has been developed to assist medium to large scale legal firms manage their solicitor's continuing legal education.

Why Manage Continuing Education Requirements?

Practicing Certificates

In most jurisdictions legal practitioners are required to complete continuing legal education (CLE) each year. The amount of continuing legal education required varies but, where it is required, lawyers who fail to complete the required amount of on-going training may be refused the re-issue of their practicing certificate.

Professional Indemnity Insurance

The professional indemnity insurance provided by many insurers require legal practitioners covered by the policies to meet these continuing education requirements. Failing to meet these obligations may place the practices' insurance cover at risk.

Productive Training Effort and Outcomes

Early each year, as the deadline for completing the CLE Requirement nears, practitioners scramble to meet continuing education obligations. In some cases this means wasted time and expenditure completing training selected to meet the continuing education objective rather than to improve the practitioners knowledge and skills.

Legal Education Pty Ltd has developed Learned Friend to address these issues.

  3. Ensure the firm's practitioners have opportunities to meet their objective by notifying them monthly of upcoming workshops, conferences and courses.
  4. Manage the firms in-house training program
  5. The next few pages provide more information on each of these functions.
